Self-adhesive floor basics
Understand stone-plastic flooring, its adhesive backing and the site details to confirm before installation.
Identify the floor and its fixing method
Our representative flooring is a stone-plastic product containing calcium carbonate, supplied with an adhesive backing for installation. The wood-look finish describes its appearance; it is not a solid-wood floor.
This product is installed using its adhesive backing. Keep that method explicit in the project description so it is not confused with a click-lock floor or another flooring system that uses a different installation process.
Describe the surface underneath
Before choosing the floor for a room, record the existing substrate, its condition and any old floor finish. Share photographs and ask for the preparation requirements for the exact flooring product. Adhesive backing does not establish compatibility with every surface.
Confirm the specified requirements for cleanliness, dryness, flatness and any preparation materials with the supplier and installer. Use the selected product's guidance for installation and preparation values.
Check the intended room conditions
Explain how the space will be used, including expected traffic, cleaning, sunlight, moisture exposure and any underfloor heating. Ask which of these conditions the selected product is intended for and whether there are restrictions.
Material names alone do not verify suitability for wet areas, commercial traffic or heated floors. Resolve these application questions before setting the final floor specification.
Plan the layout and transitions
Mark the floor direction, doorways, perimeter and transitions to adjoining rooms on the plan. Confirm the product dimensions and finished floor build-up so the installer can review thresholds and clearances.
Use that layout to calculate pieces and cuts. Ask the installer to set the cutting allowance for the actual room rather than assuming one percentage works for every layout.
